Edelrid have announced a lot of new canyoning gear to be released in 2016. More information and catalogues will be available soon so keep checking back and we’ll update with the latest information.
Working together with professional canyoning guides, Edelrid is applying its climbing and alpine experience and expertise to this sport and rounding out its canyoning collection with these new releases. As there is quite a lot released covering harnesses, ropes, rescue lanyards etc we have focused on the key items that we think would be interest to everyone.
An innovative harness designed for canyoning guides, which can cope with extreme punishment from both rock and water.
It has an ultra-robust seat protector that can be replaced if necessary. EDELRID has been working with guides to further optimize the already popular canyoning harness. It now has a single central D ring, padded leg loops and moveable gear loops. Additionally, its fit and overall comfort have been further refined, while the length of the webbing has also been optimized.
The Irupu has a user-friendly design and also features a replaceable seat protector.
And there is a particular point of interest for canyoning organizations in the rental business – the wear indicators. The webbing contains a red wear indicator thread that become visible to show when the harness should be replaced.
Developed specifically according to the requirements of canyoning guides, who work closely together with the Edelrid designers, this knife has an ergonomically shaped handle that allows a secure grip when swimming. The tip of its stainless steel blade is rounded to prevent injuries and the blade also has a slightly curved form to make cutting a rope easier in an emergency.
The figure of eight device, designed specifically for canyoning, has horns to allow multiple braking positions. Suitable for single ropes from 7.8 – 12 mm with an internal rubber ring to hold the carabiner in place to prevent dangerous cross loading.
The Canyoneer Guide 50 is made of a robust tarpaulin, while its base is made of the same abrasion-resistant tarpaulin as the Iguazu II seat protector. It has a lid pocket for smaller essential items, a detachable waist belt and gear loops and a removable divider inside. And there are built-in holes for water to run out.
